With the heavy rains last September, our basement collected a little extra moisture. We've been fighting this battle ever since, spending thousands of dollars along the way. We were approved for an SBA loan (oh, you thought we just happened to have thousands tucked away?), had the place gutted, mold remediated, and hired a company to come out and waterproof the basement.
We scheduled the Trotter company to come out this Monday. We went to the county buildings and got all our permissions and we even, as a courtesy, let our neighbors know.
Evidently, that was a bad move. Monday morning, Emmanuel witnessed our otherwise friendly and helpful neighbor sharing some choice words with the foreman. Dan didn't want us fixing our house, apparently, he'd rather we just talk about doing so. Dan's aggression resulted in me calling his wife, in hopes she was more rational, to explain we are not spending thousands to destroy their property or even really to improve ours. We're fixing it.
They didn't bother us anymore, and as of Tuesday, we have a basement that's guaranteed to stay dry for the life of the house.
In preparation for Easter, we went outfit-shopping on Thursday. Emmanuel found what he wanted, Fallon found what she wanted, and I...am still looking. But Thursday night, Fallon's temperature sky rocketed to 103.9 degrees. And we had one dose of infant motrin left.
Friday morning we were in the parking lot of Fallon's pediatrician at 7:55am (they open at 8). Poor Fallon was poked, swabbed, and squeezed to get urine samples, blood samples, nose and throat samples, and muscle testing. We left the doctor's office at 1:30pm with no answers. We spent the rest of the day watching movies and trying to sneak popsicles in her little system in efforts to keep her temperature down and her little body hydrated. Around 7:30 Friday night, I decided to give her a bath. Fallon from that point on, was cured.
So, today, we opted to go to the Northeast Cobb Community Egg Drop. Emmanuel bought us some cotton candy, Fallon colored pictures, threw bean bags and peanuts, made spin art, and then we did the worst thing a parent could do to their young child....
We sat her on the Easter bunny's lap.
