| She received a CD of age-appropriate dance songs, a $5 gift certificate to the dance boutique at the studio, and a certificate of achievement. Yay! |
I signed her up for classes somewhat on a whim last fall when it was so apparent that this kid *loves* to dance. So I thought, why not? Why not let her learn some formal technique? If she hates it, we won't make her do it again.
So, every Saturday morning since the end of September, we've been trekking down to Rhythm Dance Center (where Melanie Moore, last season's So You Think You Can Dance winner attended). Some Saturdays were easier than others...seems this child is not a fan of waking up and getting ready for...anything. But, once we'd get to the studio, she'd frolic right in and do whatever they do for 45 minutes (parents were not allowed in the studio to avoid distracted dancers), and she'd come frolicking right back out with a giant smile on her face, eager to show me what she just learned.
And quite frankly, few things can match the cuteness factor of a four year old in dance attire practicing her ballet. It might possibly be the cutest thing in the whole entire world.
She'll be going again next year, but this time attending double the classes. We've signed her up for the ballet/tap combo class again, and added a jazz class. I might be more excited than she is.
For the record though, her excitement had better catch up quickly. Let's just say dance classes, recital fees, costumes, shoes, and dancing attire add up several pretty pennies. Thousands of them, actually.
In the meantime, our next dance-related milestone will be her first recital performance in June. She'll be a Tinkerbell fairy adorned in all kinds of fluff and flowers with tap shoes on. And a full face of make up. *sigh*
Compare her to others. She's obviously special.
