My Two Cents: Spring Break, Part 1

I'm back from slacking. For a little while, anyway.

Rather than flood this post with millions upon millions of pictures, I've decided to divide it up into parts. How many parts...not sure. Maybe millions. Here is Part 1.

For Spring Break this year, we went back to our favorite beach, Topsail Island in North Carolina. Thank you, tax return. For the record, vacations for the Almeda family are planned to be done big. Not quite millions of dollars big, but big all the same. We rented an oceanfront house with an elevator, well-equipped kitchen, extra bedrooms and bathrooms, a big tv, and a beautiful view.

So, Saturday morning at 8:30am, we were on the road. We arrived at about 4:00pm Saturday afternoon. By the way, we have the most perfect child ever. For the first two hours of the trip, Fallon sang songs to herself and discussed very important points among her imaginary friends. We then let her watch a movie on her dvd player for the next couple hours (Kung Fu Panda). Stopped for lunch for an hour followed by a two hour nap. The last bit was spent coloring on a coloring book. No accidents. No screaming. No incessant questions. This, my friends, is proof that God exists. Miracles like the one described above cannot be explained any other way.

The rest of Saturday afternoon and evening was spent exploring the house, unpacking, and grocery shopping. And looking outside at the back yard.

Sunday morning, we woke up fresh and ready for some beach fun.

It was a little chilly out though due to unforgiving clouds coupled with a breeze, so we dilly-dallied around the house for the morning entertaining ourselves.

We bathed in the big Jacuzzi tub (forgot the bubbles, gah!).

We ate spaghetti.

We played dominoes.

We played Memory.

And we also dyed Easter eggs.

The waiting for the eggs to be ready part is actually very boring.

But then they were pretty.

So we ate them.

By the time the afternoon rolled around, the sun finally started to peek out from around the clouds, so out we went!

Monday morning was much nicer. We decided to go sight seeing and shell hunting down to the pier. We didn't quite realize just how far away that pier was, so it took the entire morning to get there and back. Yep, we made our four year old walk three miles.

She was in bed by 7:00 with no resistance Monday night. We are fantastic parents.

Tuesday morning, we did it again, so that we could prepare for our guests who would be arriving late Tuesday evening.
