While I'm frankly unaware of any Irish heritage in my ancestry (and certainly of Emmanuel's), Fallon has herself an Irish name. Therefore, we celebrated St. Patrick's Day - a day with a collection of stories behind it, involving shamrocks, leprechauns, and pots of gold.
I did a little research in the morning and discovered that the shamrock apparently holds a special meaning for the Irish. It was the plant that St. Patrick used to describe the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Ghost) as he brought Christianity to the island (and drove out the snakes?).
Out came the construction paper, scissors, and glue. Fallon learned what a "shamrock" is.
Fallon also learned the consequences of not wearing green on St. Patrick's Day, and promptly changed her outfit.
After naptime, we went on a shamrock hunt in the backyard.
Realizing that our yard is on its way to becoming a clover field, and therefore attempting to collect all the shamrocks would be futile, we headed back onto the porch to learn about leprechauns and rainbows.
We'll roll out the green beer in roughly 18 years.
